The Gaza Genocide
The consequences of 600 days of Israeli military attacks on the Gaza Strip are horrifying, both in their scope and their deliberate targeting of Palestinian civilians. Palestinian civilians have been the real target of Israel's war crimes in Gaza, paying a heavy and unprecedented price as Israeli forces systematically and extensively targeted them as part of an operation aimed at dehumanizing them, and ending their existence through killing and displacement.
The crimes of the IOF have caused severe physical and mental harm by deliberately inflicting serious injuries and depriving Palestinians of medical care, arbitrarily arresting and torturing them, intentionally subjecting them to catastrophic living conditions by besieging them and cutting off their access to water, electricity, and fuel, forcibly displacing them, starving them, and destroying all means of life and livelihood.
The IOF has killed over 54,000 Palestinians so far, including over over 28,000 women and girls and more than 17,000 children. The bodies of several thousand are still stuck under the rubble, while thousands remain missing and are presumed dead. These statistics include the killing of 232 journalists and 1,400 healthcare workers.
Israel’s campaign to displace Palestinians in Gaza is yet another chapter in the Nakba, in which an estimated 750,000 Palestinians were driven from their homes in 1948. But the assault on Gaza can also be understood in other terms: as a textbook case of genocide unfolding in front of our eyes.
