The Killing of Premature Babies

On 11 November, Al-Shifa Hospital was besieged by the Israeli army, encircling it and cutting it off from the rest of Gaza City. The siege caused critical power outages that directly impacted the neonatal unit, where 39 premature babies were receiving intensive care. Due to the lack of electricity and functioning incubators, at least two babies died immediately, with reports indicating that a total of 10 infants eventually lost their lives during or following the siege, including during the chaotic evacuation that followed.
